THE MAIN: firms’ activity on the external markets has slowed down because of the deterioration of world market conditions, financial situation on the enterprises and unfavorable business climate in the country.
We continue to present the results of our studies of the impact of the crisis on economic activity in the country. Salary is an important indicator of success as an individual enterprise and the economy. In May 2010 we conducted a special survey in the project "Business Surveys", where business leaders have put the issue of wage policy. They included business attitudes to reduce payroll payment as tool for declining shadows, usage of rate schedule in industrial enterprises, introduction of minimum hourly rates, the impact of change of payroll on enterprises’ wage policy, and review of pre-and post-crisis wages policy in enterprises. Below there is an overview of wage policy before, during and after the crisis.
The annual monitoring surveys1 of the business attitude to the problems and prospects of foreign economic activity of enterprises show that in 2006 the manager’s point of view on key directions of economic integration continued changing. In particular, the western vector of integration remained a priority and the number of its followers kept on growing, however, the number of the Eastern vector supporters rose again in 2006 after decreasing in 2000.

In 2005, the authorities paid particular attention to foreign economic relations. Annual surveys of the business circles’ attitude to the problems and prospects of foreign economic activity of enterprises show that in 2005, the trend towards the increase in the number of adherents of the Western vector of economic cooperation continued13. The Ukrainian business is increasingly aware of the benefits of co-operation with partners from the partners developed countries.
Co-operation between the authorities and business on the principles of transparency, mutual trust and support is a key factor of effective reform of the national economy and transition of the country to the sustainable economic development. In this context, the position of the business circles, their trust in the authorities, assessment of the economic policy pursued by the state to regulate business activity are of particular importance.
