Summary
1. EU: changes to legislation on feed additives
In the second half of January 2016, the European Union informed the WTO on the Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/2294 of 9 December 2015 amending Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the establishment of a new functional group of feed additives in the category of technological additives. The document came into force on December 30, 2015.
2. Canada: changes to the list of permitted sweeteners
In the second half of January 2016, Canada released a notification on the amendments to the List of Permitted Sweeteners to Enable the Use of Rebaudioside M as a Sweetener in Various Unstandardized Foods. The document was adopted and entered into force on January 15, 2016.
3. Thailand: clarification on food labeling
In late January 2016, Thailand released a notification on the Draft The Notification of the Ministry of Public Health regarding the Display of Nutrition Symbol on Food Label. Proposed date of adoption: To be determined. Proposed date of entry into force: On the date after being notified in the Official Gazette. Final date for comments: March 29, 2016.
