1. Hungary: changes to the legislation on tobacco products
In the second half of December 2015, Hungary informed the WTO on the expected changes to the Government Decree on the amendment of Government Decree No. 39/2013 (of 14 February 2013) on the manufacture, placement on the market and control of tobacco products, combined warnings and the detailed rules for the application of the health-protection fine. Proposed date of adoption: After March 22, 2016. Proposed date of entry into force: May 20, 2016. Final date for comments: March 22, 2016.
2. EU: revision of the list of substances of very high health concern
In the first half of December 2015, the European Union released a notification on the Draft Commission Decision on the identification of bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP) and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) as substances of very high concern according to Article 57(f) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council. Proposed date of adoption: March 2016. Proposed date of entry into force: 3 days after publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. Final date for comments: February 9, 2016..
3. EU: changes of maximum residue levels for certain substances in food
In mid-December 2015, the European Union released a notification on amendments to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards maximum residue levels for five chemical substances in certain products of plant and animal origin. Proposed date of adoption: February 2016. Proposed date of publication: June 2016. Proposed date of entry into force: Six months from date of publication. Final date for comments: 12 February 2016.
