    Summary

    1. EU: non-approval of the use of pesticide active substance
    In the second half of September 2015, the EU released a notification on Draft Commission Implementing Regulation concerning the non-approval of the active substance 3 decen 2 one in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. As a result, the substance cannot be placed on the EU plant protection market. Proposed date of adoption: End of 2015. Proposed date of entry into force: 20 days from publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. Final date for comments: November 17, 2015.

    2. EU: revision of the maximum residue levels for certain substances in food
    In mid-September 2015, the European Union informed the WTO on the Draft Commission Regulation amending Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards maximum residue levels for atrazine and potassium thiocyanate in or on certain products. Proposed date of adoption: April 2016. Proposed date of entry into force: twenty days after publication in the Official Journal. Final date for comments: November 15, 2015.


    3. EU: changes to the regulations on the use of chemicals
    In early October 2015, the European Union released a notification on amendments to (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) as regards skin corrosion/irritation, serious eye damage/eye irritation, skin sensitisation and acute toxicity. Proposed date of adoption and proposed date of entry into force: First quarter 2016. Final date for comments: November 30, 2015.
