The first generation of genetically modified plants has been successfully adopted in agriculture and in 2008 they were cultivated on 125 million hectares by 13.3 million farmers in 25 countries.
The policy papers are the joint product of the German Advisory Group for Economic Reforms in Ukraine and the IER aimed at providing economic policy recommendations to Ukraine’s policy makers. The recommendations are based on the careful analysis of Ukraine’s situation, state-of-the-art economic theory, and best international practices. The papers are available for policy makers and – with some time lag – for general public.

Deficit was comfortably financed by capital inflows, but since then net capital inflows decreased dramatically and the size and the financing of the current account deficit became an urgent problem for the country. Initially, Ukraine has focused, in accordance with the IMF stand-by agreement, on macroeconomic policies and especially on the flexibilisation of the exchange rate to reduce its current account deficit.

The most common sources of meat consumed in the European Union (EU) are beef and veal, pork, poultry (of which chicken and turkey are by far most important) as well as lamb. In addition, various niche markets, e.g. for game, exist.
