Grantee: Association of Regional Media
Implementation Project Area: Chernihiv Region
Project Period:16.06.2022 —15.10.2022
Project status: completed
Aim of the Project: to provide residents of border communities of the Chernihiv region with reliable and current information about events in the region and the situation at the border.
Additional Information: 80 percent of the Chernihiv area was destroyed by war and occupation. The border communities in the region have been occupied since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion. From 24 February to the beginning of April 2022, the population was completely blocked from information. After liberation, the connection was partly restored. However, there are still a number of problems with internet and mobile communications coverage. Most importantly, in the Chernihiv area, local media (newspapers and websites) were almost shut down, partly as a result of economic problems and disruptions in the logistics of the Ukrainian post.
The NGO "ARZMI" has been continuously involved in reporting a wide range of events in the Chernihiv area since 2006. It has more than five years of experience in studying the public opinion of the population and the expert environment of the region. One of its projects is the website (20 thousand users daily), groups in social networks (93 thousand followers). In January 2022, team invested money to develop a new web site. Also, during the fighting in the area of Chernihiv, several members of the team were in Chernihiv, posting current news. As a result, https://cntime.cn.ua has become one of the TOP-3 sites in and around Chernihiv.
