During the visit of the chief editor of the German newspaper „agrarzeitung/ernarungsdienst“ from September 3 to 9, the project «German-Ukrainian Policy Dialogue in Agriculture» headed by Dr. Heinz-Wilhelm Strubenhoff organized a familiarization tour involving leading Ukrainian and international agribusiness investors and traders.
The programme started with the “International Processing Tomato & Onion Field Day 2009” in Kahkovka, the home town of “CHUMAK” where the most important questions and problems in the sector were discussed. Dr. Strubenhoff presented the “Grain, Oilseeds & Industrial Vegetable-Production in the Ukraine and their perspective’s in the future!” and the presentation of Dietrich Holler was devoted to the “World Grain & Oilseed Business – today & tomorrow under consideration of the political and financial market situations”.
The participants of the tour visited leading agribusinesses in Ukraine and talked to leading investors in the sector, a.o. “CHUMAK (Kakhovka), “INAGRO”(Mykolaiv), “NIBULON” (Mykolaiv), “ROPA” (Kyiv region), “RAMBURS-TRIGON” (Kyiv). With the support of Andriy Dykun and his farm advisory team in Uman the participants of the tour visited also the “RISE-MAKSYMKO” farm (Cherkasy region).
The discussions with outstanding agribusiness entrepreneurs in Ukraine allowed all participants to better understand the actual challenges and achievements of the leading Ukrainian and international agribusiness investors and traders. A series of articles will promote the image of today’s agriculture and food sector in Ukraine.
