• Social Policy: Assessment of the Social and Economic Consequences of the Restructuring Process in Coal Sector

  Objective: 

  To assess social and economic consequences of the coal industry restructuring.

  Task:

  • to develop the analytical package to measure socio-economic consequences of restructuring the coal industry;
  • to select and study households in the mining towns in Lviv, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Luhansk regions;
  • to prepare and conduct focus groups with local communities of mining regions;
  • to prepare and conduct in-depth interviews with local authorities on the problems of mining regions; 
  • to survey  employers in Lviv, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Luhansk regions; 
  • to analyse the socio-economic situation of the households headed by miners and former miners;
  • to review employment policies to overcome unemployment among ex-miners; 
  • to analyse the social security system;
  • to prepare analytical report on the basis of the conducted studies and surveys;
  • to develop the databases (socio-economic situation of households miner portrait, portrait released Miner student portrait, portrait of the young graduate, social infrastructure, etc.);
  • to develop recommendations on socio-economic measures for the regions where the coal industry restructuring;
  • to analyse the market and system of vocational education in the mining regions.
