  • Economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Ukraine - IER and GET will present the forecast

The German Economic Team will present a scenario-based forecast of the economic effect of the Coronavirus crisis on Ukraine, developed in cooperation with the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting, Kyiv. The analysis is based on three scenarios with different assumptions on major variables such as the development of containment measures in Ukraine, effects on GDP of trade partners and major commodity prices. For each scenario, we first describe the direct effect – hence the shocks – of the domestic and foreign containment effects on Ukraine, which are transmitted through sectoral closures, export demand and remittance shocks. We then calculate a complete economic forecast focusing on GDP growth and the current account.

Presenters: Robert Kirchner, David Saha (German Economic Team), Vitaliy Kravchuk, Veronika Movchan (Institute for Economic Research)
