Industrial Confidence Indicator grew to 12 points in October compared to July: from -0.13 to -0.01. It was due to improvement in all three of its components: the enterprises production plans for the next 3 months were more optimistic, evaluation of the orders book has improved, and the stock of finished goods began to shrink.
A new monthly update of the Macroeconomic Forecast Ukraine ¹11 (27) has been published. With better economic indices in the third quarter, the real GDP may contract by less than 15.0% in 2009.
Oksana Kuziakiv has participated in Workshop on Sentiment Indicators and the current Crisis organized by CIRET (www.ciret.org)/KOF/GKI Workshop in Budapest, November 9-10, 2009. Ms. Kuziakiv has presented the results of the study "Did Managers’ Expectations Predict Economic Crisis in Ukraine?". The presentation was based on the findings of Ukrainian Business Tendency Survey before and during the crisis. During the presentation Ms. Kuziakiv told about economic situation in Ukraine and its possible development based on the result of IER Quarterly Survey of enterprise managers, which belong to group of Business Tendency Surveys.
