The press conference titled "One Year of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement: the View of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform" took place on July 10, 2015, in the Ukrinform press agency.
Veronika Movchan, Academic Director of the IER, spoke at the conference. She coordinates the Platform's Working Group 7 titled "Tariff regulation, transitional periods, exemptions, regime of trade with the third countries."
EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform consists of representatives of the civil society in Ukraine on the one hand, and members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on the other hand, as a forum for their meetings and exchange of views.
The platform was created in accordance with Articles 469-470 of the EU_Ukraine Association Agreement. Co-Chair of the Platform Oleksandr Sushko, as quoted by the Ukrinform, said that 15 working goupds have been created in the Platform. The groups match the structure of the Association Agreement and have been tasked to evaluate the status of implementation of the document in their respective sectors.
According to Oleksandr Sushko, "in the autumn the groups will present their work, and we will prepare a complete and integrated document. This evaluation will be presented around October. It will have an official status, because under the Association Agreement, the Platform is the institution that directly communicates its evaluations and expert findings to the authorities. The evaluation will be public and will be preliminary discussed."
