  New issue of Monthly Economic Monitor Ukraine No.10 (156)

  

  Industrial output in August declined by 5.4% yoy. In particular, manufacturing output dropped by 9.0% yoy due to weak domestic and external demand. External demand for Ukrainian goods was dampened to additional custom procedures introduced by Russia. For example, production of freight carriages dropped by 25% from July.

  Round Table "Energy Security in Central and Eastern Europe: towards a common approach"

  The governments of the Visegrad countries and Ukraine should coordinate their national energy policies and take into account the energy targets of the EU for the next decade. This was discussed at the round table "Energy Security in Central and Eastern Europe: towards a common approach", which was held by the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting on October 1.

  New issue of Macroeconomic Forecast Ukraine No.9 (73)

  

  Due to likely trade tensions with Russia, continued recession in the third quarter and absence of expected reforms the IER estimate of real GDP growth in 2013 and 2014 seems to be too optimistic. In particular, if trade pressure by Russia will increase in November, real GDP is likely to decline in 2013 and grow at near 1% in 2014.
