    28.09.2016

We have witnessed heated discussions lately about the lack of reforms in Ukraine. While we have to accept that reforms are moving slower than expected, a number of really important decisions were adopted after Euromaidan. That is why we decided to open a free access to our release of the results of 2015 Economic Summary for Ukraine, which we presented recently

During 2014-2015 Ukraine faced the toughest challenges in its independent history, such as the economic crisis, the military conflict in the East, and annexation of Crimea by Russia. This forced the government to make difficult decisions in fiscal policy as spendings on defense and security were higher and budgetary revenues quite limmited. Nonetheless, it was during these years when Ukraine has made significant progress in the implementation of reforms, which is important in terms of further development of the economy. The reforms have helped the economy to stabilize and start growing gradually.

In our publication "2015: Economic Summary for Ukraine" wr analyse the events and trends in the economy during 2015, and outline an overview of key reforms. Deregulation progress has become one of the biggest successes in government policy. Implementation of the pilot project on e-procurement and adoption of the Law "On public procurement" are among the major achievements. Some progress has been made in implementing of anti-corruption measures, however, were slow and require further significant actions and decisions. Ukraine has taken further steps towards the implementation of the energy reform and increasing energy independence. National Bank moved to a flexible exchange rate, although not abolished administrative action in the currency market. The banking system has strengthened since it eliminated troubled banks. At the same time the government's agenda is still a long list of reforms.
