    Industrial output in August contracted sharply by 21.4% yoy mainly due to themilitary conflict in Donbas. Many companies in the region have terminated or stopped their operation. Some companies in other regions, e.g. steel plants, had logistic or supply problems.In particular, many mines in Donbas were forced to terminate their operation in August, which resulted in contraction of the extraction of coke and lignite by 60.4% yoy, which caused lack of sufficient coke supplies to metallurgical plants. 

    Highlight: DCFTA implementation - DELAY IN DCFTA IMPLEMENTATION: TACTICAL GAIN OR LOSS?

    On September 12, 2014, trilateral ministerial meeting of the EU, Ukraine and Russia produced quite unexpected decision to postpone the implementation of the EU-Ukraine DCFTA (Title IV of the Association Agreement) till January 1, 2016. It was explained by the need to support the crisis-ridden Ukrainian economy and to continue consultations with Russia regarding its concerns over the impact of the DCFTA on the Russian economy.
