  • Association Agreement with the EU will help increase exports of Ukrainian food to Europe

    18.12.2013

Association Agreement with the EU will help increase exports of Ukrainian food to Europe. This will become possible due to cancellation of most import duties on imports to the EU. From the current level of 5.8% customs rate will fall to 0.4% immediately after the Agreement’s the entry into force, and three years later they will equal 0.3%. Customs duties on imports from the EU to Ukraine will also be reduced, but to a lesser extent: from the current level of 10.4% to 6.7% after the Agreement enters into force. 6 years must pass for customs duties on EU imports to be decreased to the level of 1.9%.

The above material is a part of the series of short informational materials about the consequences of signing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union for the Ukrainian economy, published by the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting (IER). The purpose of these publications is to explain the contents of the Agreement, since recently, a large number of comments has appeared on its content, but often their authors lay out the contents of the agreements inadequately.
